Today's emphasis from the National Weather Service is on tornados.  
A state-wide drill is  scheduled for 10 AM this morning.  You might hear
 your community's warning sirens going off at that time.  Most communities 
 sound the sirens only for a tornado WARNING, which means 
 a tornado is NEAR.

   DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - The prosecution continues presenting its
case in the CIETC (c-tech) trial in U.S. District Court in
Davenport. Three former officials with the job-training agency are
accused in pay scandal involving almost 2 million dollars.
 
     RUTLAND, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say an autopsy shows a man who
died after an early morning fight in Rutland last weekend died from
blunt force trauma. The death of Michael Ruberg of Dakota City is
considered a homicide. No charges have been filed.
 
     NEW HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) - The trial of a man accused in the death
of his baby daughter has been delayed until mid-July. Randy
Blanchard of Nashua (NASH'-you-uh) is charged with first-degree
murder. His accused of shaking his 12-day-old daughter in February.
She died six days later.
 
     DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A spring storm taking shape over the
southern Rockies could bring winter back to Iowa starting tomorrow.
The storm could mean heavy rain for southern Iowa and snow to the
northwest. This part of the state is under a winter storm watch for
tomorrow night and Friday.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa is apparently going smoke-free
inside. The Legislature has approved a statewide ban on indoor
smoking in most public places. The bill exempts casinos and the
Iowa Veterans Home. The measure goes to Governor Culver, and he
says he'll sign it.
 
     DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Testimony continues today in the CIETC
(c-tech) trial in Davenport. Three people with ties to the defunct
job-training agency are accused of being part of a conspiracy to
funnel money into their salaries and cover up misspending of
government funds. The defense says they're victims of other corrupt
leaders at the Central Iowa Employment and Training Consortium --
especially former CEO Ramona Cunningham.
 
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - The Army says reopening the
investigation into the death of an Iowa soldier "is the right
thing to do." Sergeant James Musack, of Riverside, died in 2006 in
Baghdad. Army investigators concluded he committed suicide. His
family disputes that finding.
 
     IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An 11-year-old boy faces a criminal
mischief charge after he allegedly brought a BB gun and three
knives to school in Iowa City yesterday. Police say other students
saw the weapons and told the teachers.
