The Marshalltown Bobcat fifth grade team won their division with a perfect 4-0 record. The young Bobcats were coached by Dr. Stephen Van Buren. West Marshall’s entry coached by C. J. Tracy finished second in fifth grade.
Both the seventh and eighth grade championships went into overtime. The Cedar Rapids Thunder rallied in the last minute of regulation and then triumphed in overtime 46-43 over the Grinnell MIX to take the eighth grade title.
In seventh grade the Iowa Intensity out of Grinnell defeated the West Des Moines Thunder 51-45 in overtime for the title.
The sixth grade title was won by the SE Polk Black team with a 3-0 record in round robin play. The Cedar Rapids Rush finished second in sixth grade with a 2-1 mark.
This was the 28th annual boys’ MOBI, which is sponsored by the Marshalltown Noon Optimist Club in partnership with the MHS Bobcat Booster Club.
